Gunung Leuser National Park

Gunung Leuserbiasa National Park abbreviated as TNGL is one of Nature Conservation Area in Indonesia of 1,094,692 hectares. Administratively located in the two provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra. This forest is dominant in East Aceh, South Aceh, and Langkat Sumatera Utara, known as world-class coffee and tobacco.

You can start an adventure in this national park through Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra, where an impressive orang-utan Gundam. Find the softness of these primates when you try to interact with them. Gunung Leuser Forest also has a wealth of tropical fruits such as mango, rambutan, durian, avocado, orange, papaya, and guava.

Gunung Leuser National Park and its surrounding area are known as the Leuser Ecosystem Area which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are approximately 130 species can be identified in Gunung Leuser National Park: Sumatran tigers, elephants, rhinoceros, gibbons, monkeys, leopards, reptiles, fish, and 325 species of birds.

Gunung Leuser National Park has a peak of 3,381 m and is one of the largest and most diverse national parks in Indonesia of 7,927 km² in the northern tip of Sumatra. When crossing over the incredible scenery, true adventurers like you will not be disappointed when you explore this park.

Gunung Leuser National Park itself takes its name from Gunung Leuser (3404 M above sea level) in Aceh. The national park includes native ecosystems from coast to high mountains filled with dense forests typical of tropical rain. The national park is managed by a zoning system for research, science, education, cultivation, tourism and recreation purposes.



Gunung Leuser National Park is very extensive, covering mangrove forests, swamp forests, lowland rainforest, moss forest, and to subalpine forests. Hear various ecosystems, this national park is actually a group of various nature reserves and forests, namely: Gunung Leuser Nature Reserve, Kappi Nature Reserve, Kluet Nature Reserve, Sikundur-Langkat Wildlife Reserve, Ketambe Research Station, West Singkil and Dolok Sembilan.

Gunung Leuser National Park covers more than 100 kilometers of Bukit Barisan Mountains, known for its steep, inaccessible mountainous terrain. Its height ranges from coastal areas in Kluet (South Aceh), which is 3,381 meters above Mount Leuser (Southeast Aceh). The stunning Alas river cuts this park into the eastern and western parts, where your thirsty adrenaline for breathtaking tropical forest scenery will be fulfilled.
